C&C Wine Bar
C&C Wine bar – Despite the name, C&C satisfies those who are looking for more than just wine. With a wide ranging menu, from tapas-styled meals to gourmet burgers, C&C has something for the sophisticated traveler even if they’re on budget. Located in Redcliffe Quay in the heart of St. John’s, C&C provides the perfect atmosphere for those looking to take a break in between exploring Antigua’s capital city. The majority of seating is outdoor on the cobble stoned courtyard, allowing you to experience the warm island breeze. However, tables are equipped with umbrellas in the rare case of rain.
Roti King
Roti King – Located on St. Mary’s street in the heart of St. John’s, Roti King is one of the best places to eat in Antigua for those seeking a laid back, budget friendly and locally oriented meal. The main specialty is roti, which usually contains meat (although you can order a vegetarian roti)folded in a soft, thin bread, and flavored with curry. Other types of foods range from traditional Indo-Caribbean fare such as doubles to regular street fare like hamburgers and hotdogs. The small yet intimate setting allows you to dine inside or in a small courtyard as you watch the hustle and bustle of local life in Antigua.
Beach Limerz
Beach Limerz – Right on the historic Fort James beach just outside of St. John’s, Beach Limerz is one of the top places to eat in Antigua, providing international food and locally oriented food. Try out their local fare such as their fungee balls (made from cornmeal and stuffed with saltfish) or try a new twist with their Johnny Burger, which has the normal hamburger patty in between the local sweetbread called a Johnny Cake. If you’re up for getting out on the beach, they also provide a wide range of watersports, including kayaking and snorkeling. If you come later, you may be able to catch a live band or karaoke. The Larder
The Larder – The Larder is an upscale gourmet restaurant located on Friars Hill Road, just outside of St. John’s. They boast of using only the best fresh produce and their specialties include fresh salads and sushi, and they have a wide range of interesting and diverse clientele that will make any visit an experience in itself. You can choose to dine inside or outside on the dining area overlooking the rest of the small shopping mall that the restaurant is situated in.
Papa Zouk
Papa Zouk – Known as “The best rum bar in the Caribbean” Papa Zouk offers a unique mixture of fresh seafood and strong Caribbean rum. The intimate yet laid back setting allows visitors to relax as they are treated to locally caught fish, lobster, shrimp, and other seafood. Don’t be surprised if the owner, Bert Kirchner, comes over to say hello, and cozy setting and décor may make you forget you’re in a restaurant as you feel right at home. Papa Zouk is located on the outskirts of St. John’s, making it easy to get to without feeling as if you’re in an urbanized area.
